Objective

A mobile phone provider needs to analyse all contract data across several dimensions in order to get better insights into churn rates (mobile telephony has high churn rates that vary extremely between segments, tariffs, customer groups etc.)

Technical solution

An Access database that imports a full monthly data dump (from the billing systems) and then aggregates and analyzes the data.

An Excel front-end that loads the analyzed and aggregated data and produces charts in various cuts, based on configurable standard chart decks.

These charts can be viewed in Excel (easy navigation through hyperlinks) and exported to Powerpoint.

Result

Due to standardized pack creation, the time spent on monthly churn analysis was reduced by a factor of 5 while the number of possible analyses was largely increased. Counting all possible cuts, several thousand different charts are possible.
